Working with an Accountant

All too often an accountant is seen as a necessary evil; necessary because they produce the end of year accounts, but they always seem to ask for documents and information just when the business is busy and hasn’t got much time to spare. I’ll do it later you say and as the clock is ticking you realise that you haven’t got the job done.

It doesn’t have to be like that.  Treat your accountant as a partner with an equal interest in seeing the business succeed and the perceived stress will disappear, to be replaced by cost effective, thoughtful, insightful help. So, what does your accountant actually need from you?

Building a relationship:

It is always a great help for us here at your psc, if you are aware of the information we need in order to make sure your company affairs are in order and ensure they are available to send to us if we request them. If you know what information we need to be able to complete our work for your psc, you can make sure it is available.

During your time engaging with your psc, we will ensure you are regularly updated on the status of your company, we will decide with you what information you can prepare for us and what we are able to source ourselves.

Maintaining regular contact will ensure there is understanding between you and your psc and working together means we can minimise miscommunication and avoid unnecessary work.

These details are set out in the terms of engagement between your psc and your limited company and also set out in the Welcome Pack. If you are unclear what we expect of you then you should contact us and we will work through the various tasks and our expectations.

What must I do?

We can best complete our work for you if we receive information from you on time and that is reliable.
