Legal Working in the UK

In line with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, it is a criminal offence to employ anyone who does not have an entitlement to work in the UK, or undertake the type of work you are offering. Any employer who does not comply with the law may  face a fine of up to £10,000 per offence. Further, if employers knowingly use illegal migrant labour it could carry a maximum 2 year prison sentence and/or unlimited fine.

If you are new to working in the UK it may all seem a bit daunting but there is no need to worry, the cps group are here to find the perfect solution and assist you every step of the way.

When thinking about coming to work in the UK and or any country, you will need a valid passport which you will then be able to use as a proof of ID once you arrive.

Before you can start any work contract you must also have a National Insurance number, it is illegal to work in the UK without one.  However, we can apply on your behalf and arrange any face to face appointments that are needed. These will most likely take place at your local Job Centre Plus. the cps group will find the closest one to you and guide you through the process

Once you arrive in the UK, you will need to make sure you have somewhere to stay. When registering for a bank account or your National Insurance number you will need to have a fixed address and have proof that you are living there. If you are renting a property then you can use the tenancy agreement between you and the landlord as your proof of address.

Most importantly, if you are coming to the UK to work from overseas, you must have a valid visa or work permit which gives you clearance to be employed in the UK. You need to make sure to apply well in advance of the date you are planning to leave to ensure there are no problems.  You can visit the UK Border Agency website to find out more information about how to apply for your visa.  http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/
